BULLET FROM THE JUNGLE
ELEPHANT UNDER. THE X-KAY. An opportunity to do something big in their lives came unexpectedly to the X-ray operators at Colombo Hospital recently, when they were called on to X-ray an elephant. The animal, a captive employed on a rubber estate, had become restive owing to what appeared to be tho lodging ot a foreign body in its head. Arrangements were made to send Jumbo to hospital for examination, and after a march in easy stages ho reached the lioapital on a Sunday morning. There was a nervous moment .. en Jumbo mived up to examine the intricacies of the delicate Phillips X-ray apparatus with the tip of his trunk, but ho remained passive during the examination, which, proved highly successful A .small bullet, probably fired at him during his wild career in the jungle, had penetrated his skin near tho ear. .it was removed.
