B CLASS STATIONS.

VO TKM BDITOS. Sir —“ Constructive ” suggests that I should write to all the B stations and express my views. Judging by the tone or some of the replies heard over the air, to telephone reports on transmissions, etc., only favourable reports are wanted. No reference would have been made to 4YA by me had not “ X.Y.Z.” made reference to that station in anything but complimentary terms. I agree with “ Constructive ” that increase in the license fee would be undesirable, and I also maintain that for any portion of the present license money to be diverted to the B class stations would be a retrograde step, and militate against the chances of even better service from the YA stations. Listeners to whom I have spoken have not mentioned any other alternative. In regard to other towns, are the listeners in these places leaving the matter to be settled by those in Dunedin? “Constructive” would appear to think so; but they may settle things to suit themselves, and in a manner totallv different from Dunedin. In replv to ” Unbiased,” I am not at all hostile towards the B stations, nor am I biased towards the YA stations. If the listeners of Dunedin can devise ways and means of keeping the B stations on the air. good luck to both of them. If they do, even at the cost of a higher fee, I will not be childish enough to refuse to renew my license.— T am, etc., Z.YA. September 10.
