Mr H. P. Glen, 8.A., has received an appointment on the staff of the Palmerston North High School, Mr A. E. Ansell, M.P., of Dunedin, president of the South Island Motor Union, who was renominated for the position this year by several motor organisations, has notified the secretary, that he does not intend to stand. The only other nomination is that of Mr F. W. Johnston, of Christchurch, who will be elected accordingly.—Christchurch correspondent. la the annual report of the Albion Cricket Club, reference is made to the deaths of Messrs T. T. Ritchie and G, Hayden. For upwards of fifty years the former was closely assoc.ated with the Albion at a player, official, and a keen and generous supporter. For, many years he Was a valued member, of the senior eleven, and represented the province in 1893. Mr Ritchie took a wide and live interest in cricket, and in addition to serving on the committee of the club he was an active worker on the Cricket Association, and did much to foster the game in this city. For years, at much inconvenience and considerable expense, he placed ius largo wool store at , the disposal ofthe club for winter practice, and later extended the privilege to- players from, other clubs. Mr Hayden was a member of the club’s original eleven, and nei figured prominently in the good old game in the early ’eighties. He also enjoyed several seasons in Australia,; winning quite a number of trophies. Mr Hayden always displayed a keen interest in the game, even during his long term of ill-health. Registered at the Grand Hotel are Mr V. J. Cornaga (Sydney), Mr H.: Z. Chapman (Hastings), Mr G. G. Shirtclifte (Palmerston North), Mr Justicj F. V. Frazer (Wellington), Mr and Mrs R. H.
