The fortnightly meeting of . Court Pride of .tho Leith was held on Wednesday hist, when a. large, attendance of members greeted the C.R.. Bro. IE Brown, and a full complement ol officers. A. motion of sympathy ivas passed with Bro. Btciiliou.sc in Ids bereavement. .It was agreed to accept the challenges from Court’ Excelsior tor Rugby and Association football matches to bo'played at tin early date, and to pay an official visit to Court Alariou on' its next meeting night. _ A donation from the Benevolent Fund was passed to a member in distressed circumstances. and it was decided Unit an appeal should bo made, to tho district executive*. A special welcome was extended to P.C.R. Bro. R. Tregcu, who presented a handsome silver cup for competition, Tho nomination ol officers tor the. ensuing term brought forward many aspiring members. Three now .members were admitted, and two members accepted by clearance. After the close of the, meeting a. interesting talk on the flora oi New /calami uas given by P.C.R. Bro. J. W. M‘ln tyre. This veteran member recalled a very attentive hearing, and was given a hearty vote, of thanks at tho conclusion of Ids fine address.
Court Excelsior held its meeting on Tuesday last at St. Alary’s Hall, 3lorniugtou, when I.P.C.R. 13ro. J. T. Wilson took charge in tiio absence of the C.H. There was a good attendance of members. The action of tho secretary in forwarding letters of sympathy to Bros. G. Hay and Clearwater Mas endorsed, members standing in respceti ul silence. It being P.C.R.’s night, tho chairs were filled by tho following old members and past officers: —C.R., Bro. F. B. Smith; S.C.R., Bro. W. Blackie; S.W., Bro. J. J. P. Burkinan; J.W 7 ., Bro. G. Hay; 5.8., Bro. G. L. Walinsle.v; J. 8., Bro. G. Jackson; and EP. CHE, Bro. R. Jackson. In proposing the toast of the past officers and older members, Bro. Wilson congratulated tho acting officers on the efficient manner in which they had discharged their duties, and said he hoped that they would endeavour 10. attend as many meetings as possible and assist tho younger officers and members. _ Bros. Smith and K. Jackson dealt with (lie oarly history of tho court, and pointed out the remarkable growth ot tho court. Bro. Smith was congratulated mi tho manner iu which ho carried out the duties of CUE, as it was now fortyfour years since ho sat as presiding officer!! Three nominations for membership were accepted. Bro. W. Blackio Mas elected as extra delegate to the Dispensary Committee. It was decided to challenge Court Pride of the Leith to games of Rugby and Association football, and the necessary arrangements were made. Tho fortnightly meeting of Court Pride of Gore, was held on Thursday ■last at the baii’droom, Gore, when C.ll. Sister Gray presided over a good attendance of members. An invitation was accepted from Court Southern to bo present at the installation of officers on September 2/5, and also an invitation from the juvenile branch, Court Star of Gore. A welcome was extended to Bro. and Sister Burtonshaw, ol Court Southern. .P.C.R. Bro. Whitty, congratulated the team from tho court which won the shield at the initiation ceremony competition at, Invercargill on August 2S. It was decided to pay an official visit to Court Star of Keriot on October 1(5. Two new members were admitted, and throe, nominations were received. Treasurer JJro. 1). 31. 31 itoliell gave a trophy to he won by the membi'V introducing the most new members into the court in the next term, and was accorded a vote of thanks.
