WORK IK VENEZUELA TO BEAU Eli EIGHT TWENTY-ONE MILES. Work is progressing rnpidly oil the long aerial freight cable from the Venezuela city of Maracay to Tnriamo, far below on the sea coast, where a modern port is being constructed. When completed the aerial system will afford fast, inexpensive transportation between Maracay, which is situated on railway and highway lines connecting rich sections of the country, and the deepwater seaport which is on a railway and very difficult of access by road. The cable System which will be twenty-one miles Jong, will run in a direct lino to Portachuelo, then make a sharp curve to Tnriamo. It will lead from a height of d,sooft above sea level down to the water’s edge. The system' will bo double, tracked, with ears capable of carrying 2,000 pounds moving in eachdirection at a speed ..of two yards per second. Officials estimate the cable railway will have a capacity of twyntyJivo tons an hour. Passengers will ho carried as well as freight.
