Smith, King street, meat; Carline and M'Lcod, meat; W. Thomas, Stuart street, meat. The committee regrets to have to report that the demands are greatly increasing, and sends out a further appeal for support in their efforts to cope with the exceptional amount of distress in the city. On Tuesday last forty applicants were supplied; with clothing and boots, and the committee: makes a special call for clothes, . especially men’s working • apparel „ and children’s shoes, as many applicants have been turned away . disappointed. On Thursday 181 families, with dependents to the number of over 800, were supplied with groceries and vegetables. Friday being meat day, the demand was much greater than hitherto, and, although some were turned away, the committee was able to give meat to 135 families with dependents totalling 540. In again appealing to the generosity of citizens, tlie committee would like to state that a friend has placed at its disposal a motor lorry and a car, and a call on telephone No. 12-734 will bo attended to without delay to, collect any kind of parcels to assist the clothing and feeding of the poor and needy.
