AMERICAN FARMERS
THE GRAIN SHORTAGE ADVICE ON STOCK FEEDING. Proas Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. WASHINGTON. August 21. Mr A. Legge (chairman of the Farm Board), commenting on reports that there was a grain shortage of 400,000,000 bushels this year, advised stock men to meet tho condition immediately by feeding stock with “a mixed ration, including rye, barley, oats, and wheat, ’’ in order to avoid any foolish and unnecessary price rises later in tho year. Ho said: “We want to get the livestock feeders quickly to adjust, themselves to conditions they have .not had to face for twenty-nine years.” Mr.,Lcgg spoke contemptuously of the, statement by “ Wall street farm exporters,” who objected, to feeding wheat to swine, because that product would produce less lard, which, according' to Mr Legge, would be welcome to packers.- ■
