VICE-CONSUL MYSTERY BROKEN ROMANCE. LONDON, August 3. , “Without you life lias no moaning for me,” Mr'll. A. Leo, British ViceConsul, is stated to have written on July 3 to Ida Bucher, a Swiss nursemaid, reports tho Marseilles correspondent of the ‘Daily Mail.’ Sho told the examining magistrate that Lee fell desperately in love with her when she was acting as companion to his mother, in 1928. Tho friendship continued, but, owing to Leo’s inability to marry her for family reasons, sho decided to break off tho relationship. Leo pleaded for reconsideration of the decision, and finally wrote, raying that life was not worth living without her. (ft was at first thought that Leo had been the victim of drug-runners, whoso activities lie had been investigating. Later tho police favoured a suicide theory, but that in turn was sot aside for the reason that tho clothes found on the sea beach where Leo was supposed to have ended his life wore not Ill's size, and tho handwriting of a note which, ho left appeared different from his. :
