ST. KILDA MUNICIPAL BAND
The concerts by the above band never fail to draw large audiences, and this week’s concert should prove even more popular. The Empire Theatre will be occupied on Sunday evening by the band, whem it will present with assisting artists a grand concert of Scottish music. The band will play two very interesting selections, * Tam o’ Shanter,’ by Round, a very beautiful arrangement of Scottish numbers, ‘Memories of Scotland’ (arranged by Rimmer). ‘ Tam o’ Shanter ’ selection was chosen recently as a test for the championship of Scotland band contest, and calls for considerable ability on all the players. The band has been fortunate in securing the services of the following soloists: —Mr Richard Duerden will sing Romany King,’ a stirring song quite new to Dunedin audiences, Mr George Mearns will be heard in the song, ‘ Bonnie Scotland,’ and Mr Arthur Macdonald in ‘ Hail, Caledonia.’ Mr William Le Gal is the violinist for the evening, and will play ‘ Souvenir de Locksloy.’ The band goes to considerable expense and trouble to give the best in music, and asks the public to respond liberally with the collection.
