There was a tragic accident at th« Clareville level railway crossing this morning, when Dr Frank Adrian Morton was killed instantly. He was going to call on a patient, and apparently did jiot see or hear the train approaching till within a few feet of the liho. Th® evidence shows that he jammed on his brakes, but the car skidded in loosa metal. . , The engine caught the. car in ths middle., and smashed it into an unrecognisable mass. Dr Morton was thrown out on the other side of the cattle stop, and killed instantly. ■ He was a young man, who had .been practising at Carterton for the past two years. He leaves a widow, Dr Win. Morton.
