APPROACHING THIRTY MILLIONS

CAPITAL VALUE OF DUNEDIN ' r . ■ INCREASE OF NOK-RATEABLE PROPERTY “ It will be noticed that the increase over 1929-30 on rateable properties is £53,296. This figure is smaller than the previous year, due to there being no large building programme in the city for the period under review,”* states the city valuer (Mr R. C. V, Evans), in his annual report. The increase on non-rateable properties is £7,319, which is mainly due to the completion of the new Town Hall. The total amount for rating purposes is £1,343,927, while the non-rate-able amounts to £133,501. On a 5 pec cent, basis the capital value_of Greater Dunedin would be £29,548,560. ; ■ It is interesting to know how this total of £133,501 is made up by the various Government and educational departments,, local,. religious, and sports bodies within the city boundaries.
