MEN'S HOCKEY
IHTERISLAND MATCH At a meeting of the New Zealand Hockey Association held at Christchurch last night a letter was received from the Auckland Association regretting its inability to secure a team to fulfil the shield match engagement with Canterbury and foregoing the match. The Otago Association’s challenges for the shield and for the Hatch Cup were referred to tho Canterbury Association. The selectors of tho mtensland match submitted the following teams, which were approved South Island.—H. Snooks. E. Dash (Canterbury), C. Gibbs (Nelson), \. Wells, B. Rogers (Canterbury), C. Jones (Duller), M. Bay (Otago), F. Fullwood, G. Burke (Canterbury), H. Whitwell, 0. Mnlston (Nelson); emergencies—Underhill, It. Best, R. D. Irwin, O’Callaghan. North Isand. —N. Hughes (Wanganui), T. Ewan (Waikato),- P. Spiers (Wellington), B. Massey (Wairarapa), A. Mahoney (captain), J. Jobbin (Wellington), B. Spiers (Waikato), G. Packer (Feiding), N. Robinson (Dannovirke) S. Betts (Taranaki); emergencies—T. Clarke (Auckland), W. Bahnin (Wairarapa). Mr A. Mahoney was appointed manager of tho North Island team and Mr P. M. Quartermain of the South Island. Messrs 0. J. Mullins (Nelson) and C. Sara (Westport) were appointed referees for tho match.
