An official reply lias been given your correspondent by Mr Nash (secretary of the National of the Labour Party) to the allegation of Mr Hargest (Reform candidate for Invercargill) that local supporters ol the Labour Party were astounded to learn that Mr O’Byrne and Mr Sullivan (member for Avon) had notified the Central Executive of the party that it had. been decided not to put up a candidate. Mr Nash states Colonel Hargest has been entirely misinlormed of the attitude of Mr Sullivan and Mr O’Byrne in regard to th»* nomination of a Labour candidate for the Invercargill by-election.
