Forecast. The dominion meteorologist (Dr E. Kidson) supplied the following at noon to-day:—The indications are for southerly winds, moderate to gale; the weather will probably prove cold and showery, with snow in nigh lands, but improving later; barometer rising: seas rough, tides good. ARRIVED.—August 5. Kahika, s.s. (8.30 p.m.), 1,172 tons, Evans, from Gisborne. An endeavour is being made to get the Storm away this evening for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The Omana, which was held up yesterday by the rain, was timed to sail at 4 this afternoon for Lyttelton and Timaru. Also held up by rain, the Wainui is now to leave at 11 o’clock to-night for Napier and Gisborne via ports. The Waimarino is due at Dunedin tomorrow from northern ports. She loads cargo hero for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. "V No word was received this morning of the Kaimiro, which was to leave Westport yesterday with coal for discharge at Bluff, Dunedin, and Lyttelton. The Wingatui was to load at Auckland to-day for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, land Timaru. The Opihi has been to load cargo here on August 13 for Nelson and Now Pymouth via ports. THE FERRY SERVICE. Arriving at Lyttelton from Wellington by the Maori at 7.25 this morning, passengers and mails for the south connected with the express. PORT ALMA REPORTED. En route from London, the Port Alma has reported by wireless that she expects to arrive at Auckland on Sunday. PACIFIC COAST CARGO. Tho 0. and 0. Lino steamer Golden Cross is reported to have cleared Los Angeles on Friday with Pacific Coast cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due,at Auckland on August 27. LIVERPOOL CARGO. The Federal Company has received advice that the Tonganro, whicli is to leave Liverpool on_ September 27 for New Zealand, will include Bluff in her discharging ports, which will now bo Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff. HARDWOOD FROM BUNBURY. Cable advice received states that the steamer Brynymor left Bunbury on July 31 with hardwood sleepers for discharge at Bluff and Port Chalmers. Tho vessel, which will call at Newcastle for bunkers, is duo at Bluff about August 15, and at Port Chalmers’'about August 20. ZEALANDIC ON HER WAT. Cable advice states that the Shaw, Savill, and Albion motor ship Zoalandie loft Liverpool on Saturday with cargo from West Coast ports of Great Britain for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is duo at Auckland on September 4, and here about September 20. O. AND O LINE’S NEXT STEAMER. Messrs H. L. Tapley and Company advise that the next O, and O. Line steamer to leave Los Angeles for New Zealand will be the Golden Cloud. She is scheduled to sail on September 1 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru. and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on September 27, and at Dunedin on October 17. KAMO SOLD. Tho Union Company’s cargo steamer Kamo is reported to have been sold to Japanese buyers. The Kamo is well known in New Zealand waters, and used to trade regularly from Westport and Greymouth to Wellington and South Island ports. Several years ago she was sent to Australia, and since that time has been running in the Brisbane-Sydney-Hobart cargo service of the company. The sale is reported to have taken place about ten days ago, the terras providing for delivery in Japan. PERSONAL. Mr J. Summers has joined the Kattuna as third engineer, relieving Mr T. S. Knight for holidays. Mr J. W. Ragg has rejoined the R.M.S. Niagara as second engineer m place of Mr A. Paterson, who has transferred to the Maunganui. Mr J. Miller, third engineer on the Maunganui-, is now on holiday leave in Sydney. Mr W. Armour has joined the Wait.emata as fourth engineer, relieving Mr S. Maxwell for holidays. THE CANADAIAN HIGHLANDER. The local agents for the steamer Canadian Highlander advise that she is to leave Montreal on August 25 with cargo for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru,, and Dunedin, being due at Auckland about October 8, and at this port about the 22nd. REMUERA DELAYED. The Remucra was held up by the rain yesterday at Port Chalmers, and *be is not now expected to be clear of her cargo until Friday, when she leaves for Lyttelton and New Plymouth, to complete discharge. The vessel, then commences loading at New Plymouth and is due back at Port Chalmers on August 19 to continue. VESSELS IN WIRELESS CALL.
