By the annual national ballot the following officers of the Federated Seamen’s Union of New Zealand have been elected:— Wellington.—President, F. P. Walsh (unopposed); vice-presidents, G. M'Gilvory (unopposed) ; secretary, W. Clarko (unopposed). Lyttelton.—Lyttelton agent, T. Martin 8,553 (elected), T. Murphy 225, E. G. Clark 192, W. Brown 189. D. Harman 181, —Councillors.— Wellington.—F. P. Walsh, T. Murphy, G. Godfrey (unopposed). Auckland. T. F. Anderson 1,496 (elected), D. MvLennan 1;270 (elected), S. C. Waters 1,071 (elected), W. Souter 995. Dunedin.—W. Clarko 1,138 (elected). T. Martin 1,102 (elected), M. Wall SIS (elected), E. G. Clark 679, D. Harman 635, J. Stark 455. On the question of the establishment of a shipwreck and funeral benefit society the votes in favour numbered 1,187, and those against 319. The proposal was carried.
