PASSION FOR CLEANING

A passion for spring cleaning as a reason for suicide was suggested by witnesses at tlio .inquest at Yarmouth recently on Miss Caroline Ellis, aged seventy, .a woman of independent moans. She wae found dead seated in an armchair near a gas cooker, which had all the taps turned on. Deceased had lived alone, but neighbours said she was having her house painted and she was worried because she could not get on with her spring cleaning. Ono witness said that Miss Ellis’s passion for cleaning was like a disease. A verdict of suicide during temporary insanity was returned.
