CRUSHED UNDER LORRY
YDUHG BOY'S DEATH While riding last evening in a delivery lorry Gordon Albert Craik, a boy aged twelve years, who resided with his parents at 25 Nicholson street, South Dunedin, mot with a fatal accident. The lorry .was driven by the deceased’s brother, Frederick James Craik, who was employed by T. E. Steel, carrier, Bond street. Frederick Craik was delivering eggs to a house in Mornington, and his -bung brother accompanied him. They were returning homo by a street at the back of the Industrial School, and while going down a hill tho driver noticed that the brakes wore npt acting well. The lorry was put in low gear, but he found that it still got away with him. It gathered speed until at last he decided to run it into a bank. Unfortunately the vehicle capsized and tho lad fell out and was crushed underneath the side of it as it fell. The driver was uninjured. . . An inquest was opened this morning at the hospital before Mr J. R, Bartholomew, S.M. Evidence of identification was given by tho boy’s father, William George Craik, and the inquiry was adjourned.
