FLORAL BAPTISM
LUKE-WARM WATER SOBBING INVALIDS “HEALED.” LONDON, April 22. r JVo hundred men, women, youths, and girls were baptised by Principal George Jeffreys, founder of the Elim Four-square Gospel Alliance, in a tank of luke-warm water in the arena ot tuc Albert Hall last night in the presence ot* 10,000 people. . , . Mr Jeffreys stood waist deep in water in the tank, which was decorated with flowers and illuminated by two spotlights. The women, dressed in white robes and tho men in white flannels and tennis shirts, wore totally immerged as they passed through the water, and then walked dripping to the dressing rooms. A number of families were baptised together. Meanwhile tho audience, including a choir of 2,000, sang hymns and waved their hands in a state of intense religions fervour. People were overcome _hy emotion, and one woman was carried out in a faint.. APPEAL OF THE AILING. A largo number of the ailing put up their hands when Mr Jeffreys asked for those who wished to he healed. Many of them wailed and sobbed loudly us Mr Jeffreys prayed over each of them and placed his hands on their heads. A number sank on their knees and prayed earnestly. Fifty persons claimed to have been cured, including a boy aged seven, whoso parents declared his sight ha* 1 been restored. . , ',, Ton thousand voices roared Hallelujah,” and as many hands waved as every demonstration of faith. There was nothing insincere in this record gathering, which camo by road and rail from all parts of England, Scotland, and Wales. There were two earlier meetings during the day. People began to queue outside the hall at 7 o’clock m the morning for The-healing service, fvhich wftji attended by a largo number of blind and crippled men, women, and children.
