AMATEUR TOURNAMENT

There will he a good night’s entertainment at His Majesty’s Theatre on Monday night, when the Otago Association will stage an open amateur tournament, for which splendid entries have been received, and as the boys have undergone; a good preparation some spirited bouts should be witnessed. This tournament will be an excellent workout prior to the Otago championships and some idea of Otago’s likely representation at the Now Zealand championships will be gleaned. The boys should bo nearing their best form bv now, and with all the leading schools represented there should be exceptionally well contested bouts. Several of those who mot with success at the recent novice tournament will be seen in action, and it will be interesting to observe how they will faro against the more experienced members of the open classes. The entries for the novice tourney were a little disappointing, hut no such state of affairs will prevail on this occasion, and spectators should witness a large number of interesting contests.
