OBITUARY
MR PHILIP LACY PULLEN Mr Philip Lacy Pullen, who died at Auckland on May 28, was bom in London in October, 1890. Ho arrived in New- Zealand in 1910. The deceased joined tho staff of the Vacuum Oil Company in 1911, and represented it at Dunedin.and Gore until he enlisted for service during the Great War. Ho joined up with the New Zealand Divisional ' Engineering Corps, and served abroad for a period of three years and nine months,- being wounded in France. Af'-er the Armistice h- was transferred to England and was employed for some time as c'erk and storekeeper at one of tho soldiers’ hostels, returning to New Zealand in 1919 as sergeant of his company. He rejoined the staff of tho Vacuum Oil Company in Wellington, and was then transferred to Dunedin as chief of the sales staff. He was later transferred back to Wellington in a similar capacity, and remained there until receiving further promotion to Auckland, and later becoming assistant manager at that branch, a position ho held until his death. Ho represented the company for a period of about fifteen years. Mr Pullen was of a quiet disposition, being very popular with tho staff under Jiis charge and highly esteemed by tho directors and executives of the company. He was a respected member of tho Oddfellows Order, and also a member of tho Masonic Lodge, Roslyff, 250, Now Zealand Constitution. He was married to Annie, tho youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Hutcheson, of Oates street, Roslyn. He is survived by his widow and a family of two sons and two daughters.
