ON HER BEAM ENDS

THRILLING EXPERIENCE AT SEA Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. APIA, May 15. The motor vessel Beulah (Captain Hart) arrived at Apia to-day. She reports that a unique thrill was experienced three days out from San Francisco at 7 o’clock on the morning of April 25. The vessel suddenly listed to port and lay on her beam ends for fifteen minutes. The deck cargo, consisting of live motor cars and drums of oil and kerosene, and the ship’s motor boat shifted to port, and it was necessary to cut the lashings to save the vessel. When the cargo wont overboard the vessel righted herself ami then swung over to starboard and lay on her beam ends for several minutes. Eventually she was righted by the cargo being trimmed. No lives were lost.
