MINISTERIAL SUPPORT TO MR DONALD MR MIGHT'S BANTER [Special to tee ‘ Star.’] AUCKLAND, May 1. The assertion that the United Party! had kept all its pledges was made by the Minister of Public Works (Mr Ransom) in a speech to a large audience last evening in support of Mr W.. A. Donald (the party’s candidate in the Parnell by-election). The Hons. J. B. Donald, and A. J. Stallwortby were present, but did not speak. The candidate addressed the meeting. “ What I would like to know is why the two Ministers of the Crown who ar« living in Auckland have not. taken any part in the fight.” said Mr R. A. Wright, M.P. for Wellington Suburbs. and cx-Minister of Education, speaking last evening in support of Mr W. R. Endean, the Reform candidate. Mr Wright referred to Messrs J. B. Donald and A. J. Stallworthy, two very important Ministers, who had persisted in lying low so far in th» contest. “ Ministers are the big gun* of a party,” continued Mr Wright.' “Many of them have come up her# and fired their shots, but these tw<» ‘ tin hate ’ appear to hare landed, themselves a cushy job on some quiet sector, while poor old Private M linns, alone of the local members of th* party, is left to battle along and push his man into tho seat.
