THE ENDOWMENT FUND OTAGO AND SOUTHLAND QUOTA EXCEEDED. Tho following subscriptions have been received by the committee which Ims been organised to raise the Otago and Southland quota of the fund that is deemed necessary for tho endowment of tho chair of obstetrics in the University of Otago:—

In forwarding the cheque for £SO from the Order of Foresters, the sec-retary-(Mr J. K. Mactic) states that Ids society desires the amount to be allocated among the districts in Otago ami Southland as follows Dunedin district, £2O; Southland district, £ls; North Otago district, £10; Central Otago district, £5. Tho campaign was virtually brought to a close last night, when the secretary (Mrs Marshall Macdonald) was able to make' tho highly satisfactory announcement that tho quota, had been exceeded by a considerable amount. The total so far in hand for Otago and Southland is £5,850, and there aro still some smaller amounts outstanding. These will ho acknowledged in further lists which will bo published in a day or two.
