THE AUSTRALIAN TEAM SIX WICKETS TO GRIMMETT PERTH, March 21. The Australia-Western Australia match opened in tropical and sultry weather, the Australian eleven going on the ground shortly hfter a gruelling trip on the Transcontinental Railway. The attendance was fair. Australia sent the home side in, a bad patch at one end of the wicket favouring the fast bowlers. At lunch time Western Australia had lost two wickets for 62 nuns, tho batting being careful and uninteresting Play improved in the afternoon, Wilberiorco reaching double figures in sixteen minutes. Rang, a new country player, withstood the bowling for ninety-five minutes for 2d. Grimmett took two wickets with successive balls in a maiden over. Western Australia’s innings ended shortly after tea for a total of 167. Gnmmett secured six for 75. Fidock, who was top scorer, lifted Grimmett’s first ball for 4 and the next over the fence for 6. Two balls later he hit' another 4, and was applauded by the Australians. , At the close of the day, when the weather had become unsettled, Australia had lost one for 59.
