SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY
Very successful Sunday school anniversary, services were held in the Mornington Methqdist Church last Sunday. The children, under the baton of Mr. G. Hickey, gave a number of items. Miss Holgato presiding at the organ. Appropriate addresses were given by the Revs. A. C. Lawry (morning), W. H. Hocking (afternoon), and James Richards (evening) The scholars had a special share in the afternoon service, and a story admirably suited to the primary children was told by Miss. H. Kane. The congregations' were large and the offerings generous. At, the anniversary concert on Wednesday evening the Rev. James Richards presided. Songs, recitations, instrumental items, action songs, and drill were pleasingly rendered 'by the scholars. Encouraging reports of the past year’s activities were given by Miss Kane (secretary) and Miss Cunliffe (treasurer). T'he announcement that Mr A. H. Reed .would take over the superintendency of the school from next Sunday was enthusiastically received The awards to members of the Young Worshippers’ League, includ-' ing a special to Master Harold White, were presented by Mr W L. Tennet. Thanks were accorded Mr G. Hickey (conductor). Misses Holgate and Seidelin (organists), arid Mrs Gibson (pianist) The prize awards for the year were as follow;—First girls—lrene Sutherland I, Rene Cumberbeach 2, Betty Coatsworth 3. Second girls—Hazel Clyde 1, Reno Cumberbeach 2, Betty Coatsworth 3. Third girls—Doreen Sutherland 1. Edna Drysdale 2, Jean Marriage "3. Fourth girls—Gloria Cameron, Agnes Waite, arid Jessie Jack (equal) 1, Rona Drysdale 2. Fifth girls—Ruth Prout and Lily Sutherland .(equal) 1,- Molly Gollan 2. Sixth girls—Maura Burgess 1, Doris Price and Dorothea Wadt]ell (equal) 2. Seventh girls—Evelyn Clyde 1, Joan Harris 2, Betty Gollan 3. First Boys—David Pehke-1, Ivan Henderson 2, Will Sandford 3.
