With tho addition of 1 run (a nohall from Henderson) to the overnight score, Hunt was injured by a ball from Henderson in the secind over and retired hurt. Tho innings was closed for 433. Foley and Lowry opened the Wellington innings, Matheson being the hist bowler. Off the fourth ball Foley was caught behind the wickets by Hunt without a run being scored. Ilollings was next. Runs' cam© slowly, only 3 being scored in tho first six overs. Neither of tho batsmen was particularly comfortable facing Matheson, and witli the last ball of Matheson’s fifth over lid wry went tho same way as Foley, being caught by _ Hunt. 7—2—6.
