o Mix blaeklead with ammonia to get a brilliant and lasting polish. To prevent cakes from becoming stale put, a thick slice of bread in the tin and renew every third day. Stains on enamel can bo removed by rubbing with rough salt moistened yvith vinegar. When weighing golden syrup for a cake or pudding, flour the scales well, then pour on the syrup. Sour milk will often remove iron rust from white fabrics. Starched linen should be soaked in cold water so that the old starch is softened and removed in the washing. A cake is sometimes streaky when cut because the fat has uot been thoroughly rubbed into the llnir. After washing day ,- ub soap over the inside of the copper whilst it is still warm. Treated in this way ir will not rust, and when filled again the water will bo soapy. i
