EXPLOSION IN MINE FIVE MEN KILLED. ’row Association—By Telegraph- -Copyright, LONDON, February 27.' The roar of an explosion, which was heard afar, sent hundreds of wnifieu folk hurrying to the pit head at Haydock, Lancashire. Rescuers found flames shooting along the galleries, which were filled with fumes, causing the men.to collapse. Five were killed and twenty-five badly burned. Two women doctors accompanied the rescuers into the blazing pit.
