DIVIDED OPINIONS

“ RUMPUS” IN LOCAL LABOUR CAMP O.L.R.C. DISAGREES WITH MR HARRISON Comment on the recent findings of the National Unemployment Committee has caused considerable' upheaval in local Labour circles. Open hostility is being expressed at the statements of Mr Ralph Harrison, a trade union official, and it is reported that the Otago Labour Representation Committee has already dissociated itself from his remarks. The committee held a meeting last evening, and totally disagreed with Mr Harrison’s statement to the Press. The Trades and Labour Council has the matter down for consideration at its meeting on Thursday, when some very plain specking is likely to be indulged in. It is believed that the action of the two workers’ representatives on the Unemployment Committee is to be severely criticised by many delegates. -The latter are asking the question: “ Why it is proposed to place the burden of responsibility for the unemployed almost entirely on the shoulders of the whole working class?”
