BRITISH COAL MINES

BILL BEFORE PARLIAMENT LIBERAL OPPOSITION TO MARKETING PROPOSALS (British Official Wireless.) Press Assoctatlon—By Telegraph—Copyright,

RUGBY, February 17. The secretary of the Miners’ Federation (Mr A. J. Cook) in a speech yesterday, made a strong appeal to withdraw the liberal opposition to Part 1 of the Coal Mines Bill, which is now before Parliament. The Government has stated that it will resist opposition to this part of the measure, which deals with the machinery for coal marketing schemes and (piota schemes lor limitation of output. Assuming that the Conservatives vote against the proposals, Liberal support will probably be necessary to secure their passage through Parliament. The newspapers state that in their present form the Liberal objection continues.
