THE RAHGITIKEI MATCH [Pk:> United Press Assiocutxon.J MARION, January 21. The M.C.C. v. Bangitikei match waA commenced this morning in fine weather and on a good wicket. The, visitors won the toss and sent Rangitikei in, D. Cameron and D. Barton opening to the bow 1 mg of Barrett and Worthington. Disaster came early, Cameron being caught by Nichols off Worthington when he had scored 6. and a few minutes later L, Burke met his fate at the hands of the same men when he had scored 1, the total being 12. Haywood was next, and when play had been in progress half an hour Barton was caught by Earle off Worthington. 21—3—2. _ . Hayward was stumped (2»—4 —10), and A. P. Smith and Holder were tof gether at 12.30. After an hour’s play the score was 35 for four wickets. Hodder and Smith seemed set when the former was run out as the result of good fielding, 38—5—6. Hawke followed, but Smith’s first stroke was an easy catch to Woolley in .the slips. 39—6—5. . Staples was next, and in calling Hawke for an impossible run the latter was run out. 40—7—0. M. Lyon and Staples were together at lunch, the score being 45 for seven wickets.
