SUNDAY SERVICES

■ At First Church'' the preacher > for to-morrow and the next few weeks will be tho Rev. John M’Kenzie, of Toprak, Melbourne. The morning subject tomorrow will. be ‘-Go Over This Jordan,’ and the evening subject 4 A Plain Path.’ At Knox Church the preacher will be the Rev. L. M’Master, 8.D., of St. Peter’s, Christchufph. His subject at the morning service will be ’.The Blessing of' Memory,’ and at the evening service 4 A New Leaf and a New Life.’ At the close of the evening service a short organ : recital will be given by Mr O. Roy Spackman. In,St. Stephen’s Church the services will be taken by J. I. Wylie. ■ The Rev. 11. Ferguson Fish will preach at both services in the Caversham Presbyterian Church. At the North-east Valley Presbyterian Church the Rev. George Miller’s subject ha the morning will be / Glorying in the Cross,’ and in the evening ’Such as 1 have Given to Thee.’ After the evening service a : short organ recital will be given by Mr R. K, TVlacfie. The Rev. H. E. Bellhouse will conduct both services at Trinity Methodist Church. Stuart street, preaching in the morning on 4 A New, Year Message of Optimism,’ and in the evening on 4 The Gospel of Absolution.’ At'tho latter service Mrs R. J. M’Laren, of Christchurch, will, sing the .aria !’My Lord and My God,’ from Sullitan’s 4 Golden Legend.’ In St. Kiida Methodist Church New Year services will be conducted by Rev. A. C. Lawry. The subjects will be •Joy in the. Dawning Year’ in the morning and ’ Covenant and Communion ’ in the evening. „ The services at Cargill Road Methodist Church will bo conducted by Mr H. Austin at 11 a.m. and by the Rev. J. A. Lochore at 6.30 p.m. The New Year subject will be 4 A Pure River of Water or,Life,’ and the usual covenant and communion service will follow. Tho St. Clair Methodist Church services will be conducted by the Rev. J. A. Lochore in the morning and by Mr F. Grocott in the evening.

Central Mission services will be conducted by the Rev. G. B. Hinton, whose subject will be ‘ The Christian’s Law of Progress ’ and ‘The New Year’s Call and a Precaution ’ for morning and evening respectively. A selected programme of sacred music will be rendered through the Western Electric sound producing equipment. Sacrament of tho Lord’s Supper will be observed at tho close of the evening service.

New Year’s services will be conducted in tho Hanover Street Baptist Church by the Rev. E. S. Tuckwell, who will preach in the morning upon ‘God —Teacher and Leader.’ Communion will follow. In the evening tho subject- will be ‘ Vhatsoever a Man Soweth that Shall He Also Reap.’ Air J. O. Sanders, of Auckland, secretary of the New Zealand Bible and Training Institute, will bo the preacher in York Place Hall. ; Farewell services will be held at the Salvation Army Hall, North-east Valley. Adjutant and Mrs Bracegirdle, divisional secretaries, will farewell at the. morning service. At night Ensign and Mrs Albert Bartlett will conduct their final service after two years’ succssful term in charge of the Army’s operations in North Dunedin. Their future, sphere of ihbours will be Eden, Auckland * and Adjutant and Mrs Ransom, of Oamaru, will ta.ke charge at North Dunedin.

At the United Congregational Church the Rev. 0. Maitland Elliss will take as his subject in the morning ‘ Tho Everlasting God,’ while in the evening he will continue his “Messages of My Ministry,” this one being ‘ The Divine Guarantee.’ -.

The . Higher Thought Centre, Y.W.C.A. and Y.M.C.A. Halls, recommences its healing ministry oa Sunday, January 13, 1880.
