Miss Clara Bow’s third all-talking picture for Paiamount, ‘ The Saturday Night Kid,’ has been completed. Hie new picture was recently pre-reviewcd in Hollywood. James Hall has the male lead, and ‘ Miss Jean Arthur, Frank Ross, and Miss Leone Lane are included in the cast. . Maurice Chevalier’s third all-talking production for Paramount will be Ihe Big Pond,’ a New York stage success of last year. Filming on the new picfuro commenced on November L Miss Bottv Lawford, who was featured in ‘ Gentlemen of the Press,’ will play the feminine lead and Charles Buggies has been assigned one ot the featured roles. Fox Films has secured the talking picture rights to the great stage success, ‘ Liliom,’ which will be used as a vehicle for Paul Muni, who is rapidly establishing himself as the greatest character actor in the motion picture world. It is expected that Muni will start ‘Liliom’ as soon as he has completed his present picture, ‘ Seven Faces.’ At Paramount’s Hollywood studios six of the now productions are being edited and cut. They include Richard Dix’s ‘The Love Doctor’; ‘The Kibitzer,’ with Harry Green; Nancy Carrol’s ‘Sweetie’; ‘The Virginian,’ which is Paramofint’s first outdoor talkie; and ‘Fast Company,’ with Evolvn Brent. At tho Long Island studios ‘ The Return of Sherlock Holmes,’ ‘ Glorifying the American Girl,’ and ‘ The Lady Lies ’ have been completed. Among tiie feature full-talking films which" will soon be seen in New Zealand are ‘ Fast Company,' a baseball talkie, with Evelyn Brent; ‘ Welcome Danger,’ starring Harold Lloyd; and ‘ The Battle of Paris,’ featuring Gertrude Lawcrence. Maurice Chevalier’s second starring picture for Paramount will also he seen in New Zealand shortly. ‘The Love Parade’ is the screen’s first operetta. The supporting cast includes Jeannette M‘Donald. Lupine Lane, Lillian Roth, Eugene Pallette. and Ben Turpin. Clara Bow’s third Paramount all-talking picture, ‘The Saturday Night Kid,’_ is also due to arrive in the dominion soon. Richard Arlen’s first all-star-ring picture, ‘ The Lost God,’ has gone into production at Hollywood. ‘ The Lost God ’ also features Mary Brian. The story concerns a deep-sea diver who becomes lost, and walks ashore on a South Sea island, where he is believed by the natives to be an evil spirit. Evelyn Brent has completed ‘7)arkened Rooms,’ an adaptation of Sir Philip Gibbs’s novel; Neil Hamilton is cast in the role of the spiritualistic charlatan.
