FORBURY PARK TROTS

CONCLUDING DAY ANOTHER LARGE ATTENDANCE Though a fairly heavy showci; fell in the morning, towards noon the weather improved, and again a large attendance was present at For bury, Park to witness the concluding day of the Spring Meeting. The rain did not do the track much harm, but made it a little slow for the early races. Ambition, with his trainer in the sulky (£so4£), Standby (£4154), Great Way (£400), and the bracketed pair Bonne Fille and Nelson’s Prince (£3604) carried most of the money invested on the Suburban Handicap for unhoppled trotters. Nelson’s Prince went away very smartly, and headed the limit horses before a furlong had been covered, leading past the stand from Bonne Fille, Patty Todd, Avoness, and Standby. In the nest lap Nelson’s Prince drew out a dozen lengths to the good, and showed Standby, Avoness, Bonne Fille, Patty Todd, and Great Way into the last lap. Avoness broke going down the back, and Ambition ran into second place iapproaching tlee turn for the run home, but could not reach Nelson’s Prince, who won easing up by eight lengths. Jock Bingen was two lengths away third; just in front of Avoness, Standby, and Bon Boy. Wattle Patch and Combine failed to go away from the start, and the latter, who was almost blinded by a hood and winkers, unshipped his driver at the end of a furlong, andgalloped five times round the course before he was stopped. For the Advance Handicap, Key Child and Loretta Napoleon were withdrawn, and the Ashburton-trained filly Lydia (£709), Grand Canyon, who was on the 24yds mark, not 36yds, as stated in the race card (£554j). Lady Zephyr (£4.89-i), Petronius (£4441), and Kate Logan (£407) were the best backed. Crown Jewel and Radio failed to go away, and Lydia and Captain Wrack went off the last of the frontmarkers, Passing the stand, at the end of two furlongs. Captain Wrack and Lydia were in charge from Kate Logan," with Warrenore and Lady Zephyr next. After going half a mile the favourite pulled in behind Captain Wrack and Kate Logan, and Warrenor and Lady Zephyr were next. Petronius moved up in the next round. Captain Wrack dropped out at the beginning of the last lap, and Kate Logan led the favourite into the straight, with Petronius and Kate Logan next. In the run down the straight the favourite took charge a furlong from heme and won nicely by a length and a-half from Kate Logan, with Petronius two lengths off, third.
