CUSTOMS RETURNS. For the month ended to-day the amount of Customs duty received at the Dunedin Office was £78,037 3s 2d, and the amount of beer duty £21.397 6s lOd. During the corresponding month of last year £76,973 7s od was received in Customs duty and £19,497 11s 4d in beer duty. The amount of petrol tax received during the month was £5,926 16s 4d, and £l, 431 12s was'received by way of tyre tax. Last year in November £BO4 11s was received for tyre tax and £3,740 2s 4d petrol tax. BUTTER AND CHEESE. The South Island Dairy Association, has received the following market reports from the Now Zealand Produce Association, London; —Butter: Salted, 164 s to 170 s; unsalted, lS4s to 188 s; Danish, 190 s. Market slow. Cheese: White, 94s to 955: coloured, 92s to 935; Canadian, 975. Market quiet. GOLD MINING. PADDY’S POINT COMPANY, Advice has been received by the secretary of the Dunedin Stock Exchange that the Paddy’s Point- Gold Mining; Company is about to commence sluicing operations at Paddy’s Point, Waitahnna. The official opening of the claim is to take place on December 4,when shareholders and all others interested are invited to attend. NATIONAL BANK OF NEW. ZEALAND. [Pis United Press Association.! WELLINGTON, November 29. The general manager of the National Bank o’f New Zealand, Ltd., has received cabled advice from his London office that Lord Balfour of Burleigh has been elected to a seat on the board. Lord Balfour is also a director of tho Standard Bank of South Africa, Ltd., the Bank of Scotland, and The Australian Mutual Provident Society, Lon. don. He is a special commissioner for inland revenue and a partner in Messrs Sherwood and Co., banking and discount agents, London. CUSTOMS RETURNS. [Phs United Press Association.! CHRISTCHURCH, November 29. There was an increase in the net Customs collected in Christchurch in November, 1929, of £6,980, as compared with October. 1929, and of £9,189 as compared with November, 1928. For the calendar vear so far the increase is £145,941. The figures are:—Customs—November, 1929, £110,983; November, 1928, £101.785; January to November, 1929, £1.097.517; January to November, 1928, £951.575; beer duty—November, 1929 £7,788; 1928, £6.649; January to November, 1929, £81,649; 1925, £74,983.
