PONJOLA WINS STEEPLES Threatening weather prevailed for the Waikato Hunt Club’s Meeting, but, except for one slight shower, the weather field fine. There was a very large attendance, and the track was in good order. Prodice, the New Zealand Cup candidate, won the Members' Memorial Handicap by two lengths, and was seen in a good clean performance, although ridden out at the end. There was a sensational aftermath to tlie big event of the day, the Waikato Hunt Cup, when Importer got past the post first by half a neck from Ponjola, but was subsequently disqualified for running inside a fence along the back the last time round. J. Sharkey, the rider, was disqualified for throe months. The leaping in this event was the finest seen on the course for a long time.
