Advice received by A. G. Franklnuu states that the steamer Callaudia, which was expected at Auckland from Port Arthur, Texas, about the end of this week, will proceed fo Australian ports and Wellington first. The vessel has ease oil and oilier petroleum products from Port Arthur and Los Angeles and will discharge at Townsville, Rockhampton; Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Wellington, and Auckland in that order. She is scheduled to reach Sydney on December 5. PERSONAL. Mr E. Vowles, after many years of service on the Western Ocean liner Olympic, is now the chief steward of the R.DI.S. Corintliic. An interesting reunion took place at Wellington last week, when lie called upon his brother, Mr A. Vowles. They had not previously met since prior to the Boor War, over thirty years ago, when Mr A Vowles loft tlio Old Country for New Zealand. M> W. E. Sanders has joined the Kaiwarra as second engineer in place of Mr Crawley, who is ashore on leave. Mr L. B. Clark, late second engineer of the Otokia, is now on holiday leave. Mr J. Longley has joined the Kaiwarra as fourth engineer in place of Mr G. H. Davis, who has transferred to the Kanioun as third engineer. Mr C. Suistcd has relieved Dir G. Wilson as chief engineer of the Hawera. Captain P. W. Robinson is in command of the Ruapehu, which arrives on Tuesday from Southampton, and Dr J. S. Meighan is the medical officer on board. TAIROA IN PORT. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion steamer Tairoa arrived at Dunedin yesterday from Glasgow and Liverpool, via northern ports, and berthed at tlio Victoria wharf, where the remainder of her Home cargo will bo discharged. The Tairoa loaded at Glasgow and Liverpool, and cleared the latter port on August 31. She made a direct passage via the Panama Canal, which was

cleared on September 17, and experienced fine weather throughout. Since thj vessel was last at Dunedin she has been laid up for three months at Falmouth. Captain D. Christie is in command of the Tairoa, and ho has associated with him the following officers: —Chief officer, Mr J. W. Hart; second, Mr A. E. Lockhart; third, Mr F. W. Gilroy; fourth, Dir R. R. L.
