Despite an extensive search by a largo body oi poliio, Boy Scouts, and the general public, no news can bo gained of the .six-year-old boy, Harry Foote; who was missed at the Gisborne show grounds during People’s Day on Wednesday last (says a Press Association telegram). The'lake at the show grounds, which had been previously dragged, was being drained afternoon. Large bodies of helpers are out ip all directions. An agreement has been reached in the industrial dispute between-the New Zealand Federated Biscuit and Confectionary Industrial Association of Worker's and the employers. The only "■hanges from, the old award are the introduction of a forty-fiye-hour week, the addition of a condition that only the time worked should he paid for to cover possible periods of slackness or if "ho works had to close down for a time ‘‘t any reason, and a slight alteration in the preference clause. Shortly after 10 o’clock on Saturday evening tiro completely destroyed a seven-roomed house at Afakaraka (Gisborne). owned bv Mrs M. J. Wall and occupied by Andrew Kinimont. About midnight on Saturday and again at noon yesterday the Union Company’s tug Terawhiti made attempts to pull the steamer Kahika off tlio beach, bub with no success. With the exception of two lost propeller blades, the steamer appears nob to have suffered considerable damage. She has still 200 tons of produce and general cargo aboard, no attempt haying yet beeri made to remove it. The vessel is on an even keel well up on a firm sandy beach. The Terawhiti is still standing by.
