While there is only one air service in England, the German Government pays a subsidy of a million a vear to civil aircraft. The result is that they have hundreds of machines, supplies of skilled pilots, and a great scheme of aerodromes. Meals 'supplied to the necessitouscases in London elementry schools show a remarkable decrease. In 1914-15 a weekly average of 49,341 children were fed; in 1924-25 the figure had fallen to 8,900; in 1926-27 it" showed a slight rise to 11,143.
