MR SNOWDEN AND THE MINERS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, October 23. Mr Philip Snowden (Chancellor of the Exchequer), in a speech at Leicester, said that the Government’s pledge to restore the seven-hour day tor miners would be redeemed, but they must face facts. Immediate restoration would inflict grievous disaster on the industry, therefore as a preliminary to a reduction of hours the Government was helping the industry to re-establish itself.—United Service.
