CAVERSHAM SCHOOL

EX-PUPILS' ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Caversham School Ex-pupils’ Association wa« held last night. The president (Mr R. Grimmett) occupied the chair, ■ The ■ annual report stated that the membership had fallen to eighty-seven during the year, and it was felt that this number could be considerably increased. The committee had held socials, had assisted at the school carnival, and had presented the dux medal to the school. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £9 5s id. The Chairman, in commenting on tho annual report and balance-sheet, which, were adopted, referred to the fall in tin* membership, and stated that he would like to see the local social club and tho association joined into one body, so that their functions would not clash. Both were working for the good of the school. Members expressed the opinion that if an effort were made the membership could be increased. It was decided that a deputation wait on the Social Club with the object of finding whether the amalgamation could take place. Mrs Johnson, the chairman, and Messrs J. Brown, A. T. Johnson, G. Thorn, and W. Wright were appointed to act as the deputation. The election of office-bearers resulted; —President, Mr A. T. Johnson; vicepresidents, Mrs Maxwell and Mr John Brown; secretary, Mr E. J. Allen; treasurer, Mr G. Palmer; auditor, Mr W. _ Wright; committee—Mesdames Emslie, Friend, Johnston, and J. Brown, and Messrs 11. Grimmett, G. Thorn, J. M'Cracken, H. Beason, and T. M‘Lean. A fecoragiendatioii’ was made to the committee that it consider the question of purchasing membership badges. Mr T. A. Brown expressed tho thanks of the School Committee for the assistance which the association had given it during the year. Mrs M'Conneli and Mr R. H. Todd were appointed life members of the association.
