—Tice-Regal.— The Governor-General (Sir Charles Fergusson) and Lady Alice Fergussou yesterday visited the New Plymouth Hospital. His Excellency addressed the school’ children and ex servicemen of the Maori, South African, and Great Wars, who assembled^in the park, on service to others. The Rev. W. A, Sinclair visits Ravensbourne to-night in the interests of Methodist missions, and leaves for Christchurch by the midnight express,, en route to Auckland. The Rev. J. F. Goldie (president of the Methodist Conference) left for Roxburgh to-day. He will visit Lawrence to-morrow and then proceed to Southland. The, residents of Momona and surrounding districts farewelled Mr and Mrs Donald Bruce on Monday evening, prior to,their leaving for the Waimqkariri district. Fors three years Mr Bruce had acted as engineer on the Public Works excavator, and his conscientious work had, in the opinion of the ratepayers, saved them much money that might otherwise have been spent fruitlessly. Mr A. Moore presided over the gathering, and a short programme was supplied. Supper waS served, and a dance followed. On behalf of the residents the chairman presented Mr Bruce with a travelling rug, and Mrs Bruce with a gold wristlet watch. One of the Dunedin Choral Society’s tenors, Mr C., Clark, sang with tha chorus that assisted Miss Ada Crossley at a concert given by the Melbourne Working Men’s College Choral Society in 1890.

Dr T. M'Kibbin and Dr F. Telford came from Southland by train this morning and went north. Mr W. T. Hazlett, of Invercargill, was a passenger for Wellington by the through express to-day. The latest arrivals at the Grand. Hotel include Mr F. Aldinger (Wellington), Mr and Mrs F. C. Williams, Messrs J. Smith Wilson, and Cecil W. Smith (Christchurch), Mr and Mrs T. H. Scansmell, Mr and Mrs F. Lange (Invercargill). New visitors to the Excelsior Hotel include Mr J. E. Hooper (Sydney), Mr D. Corrigan (Tauranga), Messrs S, Alexander and J. S. Barton (Wellington), Miss M. Wallace, Mr A. Fischer (Christchurch), Air A. H. Richards (Timaru), Mr and Airs W. Mackay, Air T Officer .(Gore), Air David Alarshall (Southland). Mr W. Lander (Auckland), Aliss R. T. Turner (Christchurch), Air F. J. Peoples (Timaru), Air and Airs F. Gruchy (Oamaru), Aliss J. APBae (Sutton), and Air J. Urquhart (Lower Shotover) are staying at the CityHotel.
