(Tasmania) will be Postmaster-General and Minister of Works and Railways, and Senator J. Barnes (Victoria) will be assistant Minister or Works and Railways. PRESS COMMENT. MODERATE ELEMENT INCLUDED. SYDNEY, October 23. The ‘ Evening News ’ describes Mr Scullin’s Cabinet as a comparatively strong administration and for the most part representing the moderate element in Labour. The paper adds that Mr Theodore, as Treasurer, will now have tho opportunity to live down his Queensland past. Other newspapers express the hope that Mr Scullin’s Ministry will attempt to establish better relations between employers and employees, claiming that there will be no real industrial peace in Australia without goodwill in industry. MR SCULLIN. BROADCAST FROM CANBERRA. SYDNEY, October 23. Mr Scullin, the new Prime Minister, m a broadcast from Canberra to-night, announced the members of his Ministry, with brief sketches of their political careers. He declared that he was proud to be associated with them. •‘They are all triers, and every one ol them has come through life after a keen struggle and hard work. All are impressed with the. importance and magnitude of the tasks that lie ahead, and all are seized with the seriousness of Australia’s financial and industrial position. It will be our one aim to try to restore peace and harmony in industry. Wo intend to tackle tho difficulties earnestly, and we hope that the Australian people will be prepared to make some sacrifices in order that a better state of affairs shall be brought about. We shall try to steer clear of the rocks ahead, with always the one desire to put Australia on the high load to prosperity.” MR BRUCE’S FUTURE PLANS. MELBOURNE, October 24. He will inquire into the problems affecting (Australia, and when lie returns will seek to re-enter politics.
