NEW SOUTH WALES CHAMPIONSHIP SYDNEY, October 23. The professional championship of New South Wales is now in progress, and _ has reached the semi-final stage. Of sixteen competitors who qualified on the opening, day the eight winners engaged in match play of thirty-sis holes to-day, the results being as follow: F. Byro beat A. Downes, 7 and 6; D, Spence beat W, Thompson, 7 and 5; W. Godsen beat T. Heard, 4 and 2; Fred. Popplewell beat J. Cohen, 3 and 2. Spence is the present title holder. The semi-finals will be played to-mor-row.
