COMPULSORY INSURANCE
THIRD-PARTY RISK SCHEME IN BRITAIN. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, October 22. (Received October 23, at 12.55 p.m.) The Ministry of Transport has dratted a scheme of compulsory insurance against third-party risk for the consideration of representative motoring organisations. The main features are: — Every driver is liable to be stopped by a policeman and ordered to produce his insurance certificate, just as he is now liable to be ordered to produce bis driving license, but certificates of exemption are obtainable by corporations and similar bodies who prove their ability to meet claims; secondly, insurance companies and underwriters must satisfy the Ministry of their ability to pay claims. Only approved underwriters, who deposit £2,000 or 1 j} s ’- , rance organisations a deposit of £lo,ooo will be allowed to undertake thirdparty risks.—Australian Press As-sociation-United Service.
