‘THE IDLE RICH'
REGENT'S NEW TALKIE PROGRAMME ‘ The Idle Rich,’ a Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer all-talking production, will commence screening at the Regent Theatre on Friday. The film, directed by William De Mille, has a strong cast, headed by Conrad Nagel, whose fine speaking voice won him approval on the speaking screen, lie is said to give a fine performance in the character of a rich young American of good family. Bessie Love, who won praise in ‘flic Broadway Melody,’ plays the part of a New York ilapper, and her part is reported to bo an outstanding feature of the. production. Others who have important roles are Leila Hyams, Robert Ober, James Neill, Edythe Chapman, Paul Kruger, and Kenneth Gibson. The picture combines comedy and pathos with hnnian interest, and tolls of the love of a wealthy aristocrat for his stenographer. He visits the girl’s happy, but humble homo, and decides to offer her a mansion in the city’s fashionable quarter. The inherited wealth of the man is resented by the girl’s parents, but be overcomes their objections, and the climax is unique and unexpected. The additional feature will be ‘The Shady Lady,’ a part-talkie Pat he film, starring Phyllis Haver and Louis Wolheim. ■ " ■
