BURNSIDE STOCK SALES

The sale of fat cattle was late in starting at Burnside to-day. There was a big yarding of good quality cattle numbering 273, and it was expected that the prices would case a little. In the penning of 2,180 head of fat sheep there were included some extra heavy wethers and ewes. Prices for heavy ewes were 2s 6d below last week’s rates, and wethers were easier by about Is Gd to 2s. Medium shorn wethers brought from 26s to 28s, which was equal to 5d per lb. Thirty-two lambs were penned, and there was an advance of 2s on last week, running from 30s to 425. This was equivalent to Is 3d . per lb. A heavy yarding of store, cattle met with a good sale, best steers selling up to £l4, In the pig section 93 fats and 72 stores were yarded, and the former sold well at slightly easier rates.
