R.S.A. AFFAIRS

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE The fortnightly meeting of the Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association executive was held last evening, the president (Mr A. M'Hutcheon) occupying the chair. Four new members were elected, one outward and one inward transfers were approved, and two deaths were reported. It was decided to consider entertaining the members of the visiting commission on the night of October 31. The Poppy Day and Unemployment Committee recommended that grants of £75 and £lO be voted the City Council and the Sawyers Bay Progress League respectively. The Chairman reported on behalf of several members who visited Commodore Blake on board H.M.S. Dunedin, and said they were cordially received. The commodore agreed to give a lecture to members of the club when he next visited Dunedin. Mr E. J. Anderson read the outline of evidence to he placed before the commission of inquiry at its sitting in Dunedin, and four interested persons, Mr D. Tannock (superintendent of city reserves), Mr J. J. Clark (chairman of Finance Committee of the City Council) Mr G. A. Fortune (Registrar of Pensions), and Mr M. N. Perry (Department of Labour), indicated how returned soldiers suffering from war disabilities could be employed.
