SPOTTED MATERIALS FOR SUMMER

Have you noticed how many spotted materials are being used this summer? Yellow grounds are favoured, usually with very small spots; or dark grounds with tiny light spots, white on black being very smart.

Foulard is a material which has returned to favour fox little summer suits. For light frocks of the garden party type, georgette, crepe de chine, and printed chiffon are most suitable, with, of course, the übiquitous voile. Laco is the most popular choice for dinner wear. The other evening 1 saw a brunette wearing a frock of scarlet lace which looked wonderfully effective, A bunch of scarlet feathers perched upon the right side of the yoke formed the solo trimming. On some of the. newest flounced models the harem touch is noticeable, in a belt broad at the back and pleated at the front. A large buckle may take the place of plea's or tucks at the front.

Black patent leather shoes, with a black hat and black beads, form the smartest of finishes for garden fete toilettes. When- beads are not worn, a scarf of the frock material with heavy black satin may be substituted. Dull straws are genera ly preferred to_ shiny ones, [f flowers are used as trimming there should b> only one or two, and those quit* outstandingly chic. Large natural-looking roses are he wisest chorne. Occasionally a very mall bunen of fruit may be used as hanging trimming, but this season ;o trailing velvet ribbons are seen, .bove all we b’ke “ tidy ” millinery. We can also obtain spotted sunshades matching our little spotted ~ackets. The newest way of carrying the sunshades when closed is by a large bone ring inserted through the ferrule. The cover is just’ large enough to afford protection from the sun’s glare, for the new parasols must be 1 small, as well as light in weight.
