NEW DOUBLE-FEATURE TALKIE BILL Another double-feature talkie programme will bo shown at the Regent Theatre from Friday next. The Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer all-talkie, ‘ The idle Rich,’"will lie the chief attraction. Conrad Nagel, Bessie Love, and Leila Hvams play the leadinig roles in this comedy of middle-class flat life, which is taken from the famous stage comedy bit. ‘ White Collars,’ and the supporting cast includes Robert Ober, James Neill, Edythe Chapman, Kenneth Gibson, and Paul Kruger. Edith Ellis wrote the play, which had a phenomenal run on -Broadway and played for more than a year to capacity audiences in Los Angeles. Bessie Love plays the role_of a jazzy little flapper who will not give up her iceman sweetheart, even though she acquires a millionaire brother-in-law. Conrad, Nagel plays the brother-in-law. Leila Hyams, who recently scored a success in talking pictures when she played the leading feminine role opposte William Haines in ‘Alias Jimmy Valentine,’ takes the part of the flapper’s beautiful but serious-minded sister, who wins the love of her milionaire employer, marries him, and introduces him to Tier middle-class family and home. The picture is rich in human interest, romance, and laughter. It is said to be an example of talking picture technique at its best " ‘The Shady Lady/ starring Phyllis Haver in a part-dialogue Pathe melodrama, will be the minor feature of this bill.
